Mail Genie or SaneBox?
By Mail Genie · Reviewed
Choose based on your mailbox and the work you want help with. Mail Genie focuses on reviewed category choices for Gmail. SaneBox is the better fit to investigate if you need support for other email providers or want a broader set of tools such as a daily digest, follow-up reminders, and snoozing.

When SaneBox is the better fit to investigate
If you use a non-Gmail mailbox, Mail Genie does not meet that requirement. If your main problem is remembering unanswered email or deferring messages until later, SaneBox advertises features aimed at those jobs. Confirm provider compatibility and the features in your chosen plan before subscribing. We have not tested its sorting accuracy or compared customer outcomes.
When Mail Genie fits the job
Mail Genie suits a Gmail user who wants to review categories such as newsletters, receipts, personal conversations, and security-related mail, then choose what stays in Inbox. Connecting alone does not start filtering: setup can analyze consented content before you review and activate the policy.
Black Hole archives conversations rather than deleting them. New Black Hole deliveries are marked read. Filtering can make mistakes; restore conversations and adjust category or sender choices when needed. Restoration does not promise that messages become unread.
Read the data disclosures before granting access
Mail Genie sends relevant sender, subject, message text, and limited thread context to TypeSafe Jev through Vercel AI Gateway for classification and to Anthropic Claude for setup and learning. It retains settings, processing metadata, and limited correction evidence. Its Privacy Policy explains the details.
SaneBox’s statement about basic email information and full-email storage is its own claim on the SaneBox homepage. That statement and Mail Genie’s disclosures describe different processing approaches; they do not establish a comparative security guarantee. Review each service’s current policies against your needs.
In Mail Genie, withdrawing AI consent stops processing but does not cancel your subscription or restore archived mail. Billing is managed separately in Settings. Ordinary cancellation stops renewal while keeping access through the paid period.
